I started breeding budgerigars in 1973 and achieved Champion status some 10 years later. I became a judge 4 years after that. I only have a small stud of approximately 100 birds, mostly Normals, Cinnamons and Spangles. My original line was based on Harry Bryan's birds and I enjoyed success from these for many years. Over the last few years I worked with people like Fred Wright and Brian Byles but now my stud comprises mostly of birds from Jo Mannes of Germany and of course from Marcel in Switzerland. For some years I had a very successful partnership with Fred Wright. Now I have joined Marcel and Hermann Bühler in the partnership of Bühler and Pearce and I am sure that in the fullness of time, this will be very successful and rewarding. One of my other interests in the fancy has been committee work. I was a committee member of the London and Southern Counties Budgerigar Society for 23 years. I retired from this committee in 2002 after many happy years of service. I have served two terms as a Budgerigar Society Council member. I am now a committee member and serve as the seminar organiser of the Budgerigar Society Club Show. I have been very fortunate in that I have been asked to judge in many overseas countries. The friendships I have made on these trips have been the most rewarding part of my time in the fancy.
